Golf overheating!!

Post  J-Luca on Thu Oct 27, 2011 8:59 pm

Hi y'all.... hope your all keeping well back in blighty...

I have a question regards my golf cl 1600 mark 3... It is overheating and the fan isn't kicking in. The top pipe is hot and the bottom pipe is cool. Any suggestions as to what might be the problem and what parts I need to try and locate to get this sorted??

This is quite urgent now as my dads jeep is now playing up so at the moment we are semi stranded up the top of a mountain!!!!

Look forward to hearing what you guys have to suggest Very Happy

Hi Jaime, hope you're well, could possibly a sticky thermostat? If no hot water is getting to the fan switch it won't switch on. Try taking the thermostat out,it will take longer to warm up but will probably fix the problem. x x

Hi Jamie

It could be as Till suggests and it may worth a try removing the thermostat, i would only do this a temp/diagnostic measure.

I suspect this might not be the problem depending on how hot the top hose is getting.

The link below is from a forum and might hold a few answers.

A simple fix on the thread is a blockage in the thin hose from the expansion bottle.

let us know how you get on.

Good idea that man! I plan to ride over with my boss on our bikes next year, that's if i can stay on it that long! I chucked it down the road last week and nearly hit the front of some poor girls car. You should've seen her face! Shocked

You guys are definitely welcome over here, I've said that already Very Happy If you want to camp, there is a nice camp site at the 'Groppo' which is were we go swimming in the river. Its FREE!!!!! Plus there is a bbq permanently there for anyone to use. A bar opens from midday for a few hours everyday in the summer. They serve beer, panini's, ice lollies etc.... yum yum.

Please come!!!!

Oh and Ade, get in a bit more practice on your bike, otherwise you really won't make it over here Laughing
