Harry's VW - 74 Jeans Bug

Post VdubHarry on Wed Apr 25, 2012 9:04 am

My names Harry and this is my first of many VWs to come Smile

Sadly it's not an air cooled dub, but as a second car (my first car being a hand me down saxo off my mum) and my first VW I love it!

Here's what I bought it like

And here's various stages it's gone through

Then it was lowered

And here's what it looks like now

Let me know what you guys think Smile

And I'm coming down to big bang with Pete this weekend so should be good to meet everyone!

Thanks

Harry

Cheers matey ! It was good meeting you and everyone else too!

'twas a good weekend despite the weather!

Here's some pics before and after Pete managed to get,

Before we left freshly waxed and gleaming,

Just before we left Saturday after battling the swamp to get out,

I can see one downside of having spaced out wheels now lol!

Hahaaa the caddy is the nuts, especially when towing a bay window Wink

The ride quality as well was out of this world, Pete can vouch for that

Got a New Wip!

sadly after 2 years of proud ownership the 1.6 is no more Sad and is up for sale!

This is a spontaneous little shoot me and my mate did the day before I picked up my new car... for prosperity of course....

I picked up this baby last week

GT TDI 115 Highline Winter Pack Model

And the advert read .....

Black VW Volkswagen Mk4 Golf 1.9 GT TDI Highline Heated Leather Seats Cruise Control

This car is the Highline version, and has every optional extra you can get on a Golf. Please read below for full list.

De-badged front grille and boot.

3 door, Diesel 6 speed Manual

115 BHP

109,000 miles

MOT & tax until December 2012

Full Service History

Highline edition so has all the extras, including:

Full leather interior with heated seats

Climatronic full climate control air conditioning

Cruise Control

Headlight washers

Electric windows

Heated, electric wing mirrors

Trip computer

Alloy wheels

Remote central locking

6 speed gearbox

All electrics working.

ESP/traction control

ABS

Air bags

ISOFIX points

3 x 3 point seat belts in the rear, so no lap belt

4 good tyres with lots of tread

Engine, gearbox and clutch all very good condition with no noises or creaks. Low biting point on the clutch.

Checked with VAG.com and showed no faults

A very nice car in extremely good condition for its age. As well as being powerful, it regularly returns over 60 MPG on long journeys.

After organising to view it and taking her out for a test drive I had to buy her!

As soon as I got home I started transplanting all the stuff from my old car onto this beast, starting with the wheels.

..

along with the 6k HIDS, the amazing sunglasses holder, and the JOM anni rep splitter.

Just the Bora Vents and Coilies left to swap over, need LOWS soon!

Then left on the cards is:

-Remap-

Decat

-pd130 manifold

-130 injectors

-Allard 130 egr delete

- and ofc some stickers for some major BHP!

Sadly still not a beetle Sad but I couldn't afford the petrol going to and from work everyday so thought the diesel route would be the best route to go down, while I save for my beetle and get my Garage sorted!

As some of you know I've finally got my first bug! A 1974 Jeans Beetle Smile

Its pretty solid with only really needing a new front clip which Ade welded on for me Smile

Ade in action Wink

With a big Thanks from Jamie towing my beetle back I got her home for the first time yesterday

The weird feeling of not being in control the whole way home, loved it though!

And Finally at home

After a fresh tank of fuel she fired up first time and idles like a dream and the timing doesn't sound out at all

She after a service, mot, tax and a vic test and she's ready to rock and roll!

It's coming along pretty good thanks Ade, hopefully after this Saturday she should be ready for the mot Smile

And get the washer bottle working properly because for some reason it's not

No I just fitted it using that pump valve but it doesn't seem to work, I literally pump the nuts off it and it trickles out once then no more and doesn't spray the windscreen :/

If you've got a spare wheel valve knocking about ill be more than happy to chuck some wonga your way cheers dude Smile

No worries, let me know.

But if you've got pressure in the bottle and it doesn't work it sounds like there's a blockage somewhere, unless the bottle (or switch) isnt holding the pressure. Tyre valve will only keep the bottle pressure topped up so the washer will last more than a couple of days.
