I'm I'm a mad rush now trying to get camper ready for chill n grill.
Engine needs a tune and need to sort door catch.( small clip has snapped )
So cannot lock and open door.
And horn needs wiring and Ade has a bit more welding to do.
Is anyone available one afternoon/eve ?
Would love to be able to make chill n grill.
I have insurance ready and everything to go.
Cheers guys

Hey man,
Im afraid i have very little time free to be able to help...
When it comes to tuning the engine, what needs doing? is it just timing? does it run ok though? If you have not got a timing gun or anything, might be worth chucking it at BD Engineering for its first tune up.
Have you got a Haynes manual for it? Or your beetle one for that matter? It will tell you in there how to tune the carb (if it needs doing) and indeed how to do the timing, dwell angle etc.
I would definately recommend getting the tools to do it yourself, they are all pretty cheap from Halfords I would have thought.

With regards to the clip - you might just have to buy a new one buddy, or put up with it not being able to lock for now until you can get a second hand door mechanism.

I definately cant help you with the horn... i hate electrickery. Are the wires in place though or do you need new wires? Again, it will show you in the Haynes manual where the wires need to go... just depends on whether you have the bits and pieces and the crimping tools etc

Sorry i cant be more help...

Cheers Ben!
Il try find Haynes manual. Engine just needs small tune up I think.
It runs but is a bit lumpy.
The door won't lock or unlock and catcher won't strike. I imagine that would be an mot fail so I have just removed whole mechanism.
Ade said he may be able to weld the broken clip to do for now.
Il get cracking and have a shopping trip to halfords.
Just don't wanna do something wrong and mess whole engine up.
Horn is just case of getting new wire and spade connectors I hope
Thanks Ben!

Hi Pete, I might be able to give you a hand during the day on Saturday if you still need help.

I've got a carb to rebuild for our beetle in the morning but providing that goes smoothly and our donor engine runs ok, I should be able to pop round with some tools and help you get the engine running a bit better Smile
