New Wheels
HI
Some of you will know that i've been talking about getting a bus for far to long so at Grill n Chill i finally bite the bullet and picked up a pretty solid ex US Oregon early bay.
Its been in the UK about 6 months and has already been registered and MOT'ed but still a rolling project with plenty of bits and pieces to sort out.
So i thought i would start from the beginning with a few pics from the previous owner of how it was when it hit the UK
Here's the text from an email written by the PO in Chiloquin, OR.
The story, I bought the bus from a guy who owns a tow company up here...and like 15 years ago the bus was driving through with the previous previous owner and it quit working...and I don't think they ever came back for the bus...probably because they were broke hippies and couldn't afford the cost of the tow. I don't know
So it was sitting in the tow yard, preserving you can say, for like 15 years.
The tow guy didn't know anything about VW's at all. He actually called our shop like 5-6 years ago asking if we wanted to buy it and said he thought it had electric problems...he ended up telling us it was a mid 70's model...so we weren't interested initially.
I ended buying a '65 Bug and had them tow it and I remembered he had mentioned a bus, so I took a look at it...and low and behold it was beautiful and not a mid 70's model!
More updates to follow.
