WANTED - T1 Beetle Engine Bits
Hey Guys
I'm looking for a couple of bits for my beetle:
- two hard brake line pipes for the rear wheel cylinders
- pushrod tubes and seals (have been looking at the scat ones on cool air but not sure what the difference is/ what ones to get, the big mouth spring loaded tubes or the normal spring loaded push rod tubes)
As my push rods look like they are looking Grant persuaded me to look for some 1300 bits while my engine is out to give it some more power.
So I'm looking for:
- 1300 twin port heads
- 1300 or 1600 manifold
- 4 1300 short cylinder studs
Grant also said If i get the 1600 manifold thats larger, I would also need new carbs.
But not too sure on what ones I would need...
Cheers Guys!

Re: WANTED - T1 Beetle Engine Bits
Hello matey,
With regards to the push rod tubes... if you are taking the heads off anyway then i would just get the stock ones - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/170929154273?hlpht=true&ops=true&viphx=1&lpid=95&device=c&adtype=pla&crdt=0&ff3=1&ff11=ICEP3.0.0&ff12=67&ff13=80&ff14=95&ff19=0
Im not saying to get them from here... just an example of what you want.
I have some 1300 twin port heads and inlet fannymold. Come round this weekend if you want to have a look.
If i were you i would ignore Grant and get it MOT'd and use it first. Or is it peeing oil out of the push rod tubes?
cheers

I'm sure we've got a couple of fannymolds too ;)not got any heads but shit loads of original carbs if you need one (or 6 lol)
I'm with Ben though, if it's not leaking that badly, get it mot'd first it'll be fine as long as you keep an eye on the oil level! Plus if you've never properly driven it then there might be other stuff you will want to do while the engines out the car that you won't know about until you've driven it, like a clutch for example.
It'll save you taking the engine out again for a second time
